Monday morning attempt at the park, I felt like Sophie did very well seeing how she was more interested in the kids playing in the park then what I was trying to have her do. Needed to do 2 videos in the first her recall was not what was needed. After a few proofing of her set's she was more focused.
On the Recall, when she freezes (indicating how unsure she really is), shorten the distance considerably. For FC Week 7, you only need a 20' Recall, the distance you are doing in these videos is closer to 35-40'. When you bend over to pick up the string, she is reading that mechanic as her signal to Come. A normal breakdown in her understanding. Recommend you take several days and work on Recalls, here, there'n' everywhere.
Now here's the one big change. When she freezes, walk straight into her, at 4-6', hook on her leash. Then, command "Sophie, Come" and back up rapidly 6' to SSIF ( no verbal). Give her another "Stay" command while facing her, do NOT return to heel position. Back up again and call her to SSIF. Repeat, repeat, repeat until she comes all the way to SSIF from your original Recall position (should be 20').
Now, once you have done this, do some heeling and downs or stands to get her to relax. Then start over the Recall training as outlined in FC Week 4 , at 6'. Patience, Persistence and Praise will help her to understand. This is a Gremlin😱 right now, so we need to backwash her and start over.
Does this make sense? Again, this is a normal breakdown.
